European
projects

Relying on a long experience in the European project management and a well-established scientific network, the SiNANO Institute has been involved in many European projects dedicated to advance research, innovation and training in the field of semiconductors. Our expertise extends to communication, dissemination, access promotion activities, and partnerships.

DESIgning and REcycling sustainable Electronic boards
for an EUropean circular economy

DESIRE4EU is set to revolutionize the electronics ecosystem by designing fully circular reliable bio-based electronic boards without affecting their performance. This ambitious shift promises to reduce the waste and pollution associated with electronics strongly.

Thanks to a holistic approach, we’ll develop novel and credible solutions for a responsible electronics value chain.

Relying on the interdisciplinary skills of our consortium partners, we aim to develop an alternative, innovative, and low-cost technology of bio-based substrates, increasing CM (Critical Materials) recycling using low-energy and low-pollution innovative bioleaching processes (TRL 1-4).

International Cooperation On Semiconductors

The FAMES Pilot Line pioneering initiative promotes semiconductor technologies in Europe by supporting the emergence of higher-performance, more energy-efficient, and more sustainable chip designs.

The objectives of the FAMES Pilot Line are to establish a domestic semiconductor Pilot Line for cutting-edge microelectronic technologies in Europe, and provide open access to this Pilot Line to stakeholders of the electronic value chain. These objectives are aligned with those of the EU Chips Act: bolster the EU semiconductor industry and support European technological sovereignty through innovations, facilitated access to R&D, and training.

Toward energy-saving chips for digital, analog and RF

ICOS is a three-year Coordination and Support Action (CSA) from the European Commission, part of Horizon Europe. It is an ambitious project in the framework of the European strategy of semiconductors. The project aims to support the growth of the European Semiconductor and Semiconductor-based photonics industry, through focused international research cooperation. ICOS will play a significant role in helping our continent regain sovereignty and leadership in that domain, in line with the objectives set out by the EU Chips Act.

The project also contributes contributes to two other major European initiatives: the Digital Agenda and the Green Deal, targeting the digitalization of many domains to reduce footprint, the electronics monitoring dealing with societal challenges (energy, health, environment, etc.), and the development of sustainable electronics (energy consumption, critical materials, etc.).

Indo-Pacific European Hub for Digital Partnerships

INPACE is a Coordination and Support Action Initiative funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Programme starting January 2024 and running until June 2027.

INPACE’s mission is to support the implementation of the Digital Partnerships between the European Union and Japan, South Korea, Singapore, as well as the Trade and Technology Council with India.

Powered by a consortium of 21 European and Asian partners, the initiative establishes a multi-stakeholder Hub for collaboration in digital technologies between Europe and the Indo-Pacific region and fosters long-term cooperation in key digital technologies by bringing together experts and stakeholders from both regions.
