Worldwide cooperations

Collaboration lies at the heart of the activities of the SiNANO Institute, which supports and promotes the strengthening of Europe leadership and sovereignty in semiconductors. However, our reach goes beyond Europe.

Through durable partnerships with renowned international institutions and agencies, the SiNANO Institute benefits from a worldwide visibility within the academic and industrial community in Electronic Components & Systems.

By engaging constantly with European stakeholders, we take part in European strategic discussions on priorities in micro and nanoelectronics, and contribute as the European representative to IRDS activities, including IRDS roadmaps, the annual ISRDS…

Moreover, through projects such as ICOS or INPACE, we have proven to be a gateway to a strong European network in semiconductors for non-european countries to establish strategic partnerships.

SiNANO is an associate member of AENEAS (Association for European NanoElectronics Activities), an industry association promoting R&D&I in electronic components and systems to strengthen the competitiveness of European industry.

Thanks to this collaboration, the SiNANO Institute benefits from AENEAS’s networks of political influence, funding opportunities and strategic collaborations.

More than 500 stakeholders have joined AENEAS, forming a powerful network representing the entire value chain of electronic components and systems.

Several SiNANO Institute members are involved in Electronics Components and Systems (ECS) Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda.

Electronic components and systems (ECS), based on electronic and ICT technologies, have an impact on all industrial sectors and almost all aspects of life. The ECS Value Chain stands for everything “smart”, based on designing and manufacturing semiconductor chips, sensors and actuators. By utilising integrating software and specialised interfaces that bring them to life, it creates the essential building blocks for the IoT (Internet of Things) and future Systems of Systems.

Together, technologies for nano-electronics, smart systems integration, embedded intelligence and cyber-physical systems all play a dominant role in creating innovative, smart, connected, yet secure products, powered by sustainable and efficient energy sources. These products enable many applications that improve mobility, health and wellbeing and quality of life, as well as supporting the creation of a smart competitive industry in our increasingly digital economy.

The SiNANO Institute is the European representative of IRDS. We take part to the international roadmap committee and contribute to writing IRDS roadmaps, as well as organising jointly international events such as ISRDS.

The IRDS’s role is to Identify the roadmap of electronic industry from devices to systems and from systems to devices.

This initiative focuses on an International Roadmap for Devices and Systems through the work of roadmap teams closely aligned with the advancement of the devices and systems industries, especially for computing applications.

Led by an international roadmap committee, International Focus Teams (IFTs) will collaborate in the development of a roadmap, and engage with other segments of the IEEE, such as Rebooting Computing, and related industry communities, in complementary activities to help ensure alignment and consensus across a range of stakeholders, such as Academia, Consortia, Industry or/and national laboratories.
